Kat Szymanski

Kat's love for Pilates began after deciding Pilates was the best thing to practice for rehabilitation to a recurring knee condition. “It was the Best form of workout that didn't put any weight on my knees, post surgery. It also helped me to recover mentally from being so unable to do the simple things I used to do.” With the help of a great Pilates Mentor and some distance training she completed her Initial Pilates Training with flying colours and hasn't looked back.

Kat has completed numerous courses with varying Pilates Institutes to gain the knowledge to teach and deliver the technique in her own style, and still continues to study it. Although Kat's classes can be quite demanding on the body, she reassures everyone with great technical cues and good humour and as she puts it, “Laughing is good for the Core!”, and so encourages it in class! 'With Pilates I feel strong, centered and balanced and my body knows when I haven't been doing enough of it!'

Prior to Pilates, Kat has been dancing  just about since she was born. Her mother was a dance teacher and her fathers family arrived in Australia from Poland escaping the brutality of World War II. Her Parents were Members of the Townsville Polish Club where her mothers Polish Dance troupe performed complete with Kat and siblings and other Polish/Australian Children. This dance troupe toured NQ and even performed at the last Expo 88 in Brisbane. Kat also has experience in dance fitness, Hip hop (for kids and adults), and sings regularly in Townsville with her band 'Gravy Train'.
